FAQ for Tutors
Do I need to pay additional charge for your service?
No, you do not have to. We provide FREE matching service for you.
The commission for our service will be charged to the tutor.
You only need to pay for the agreed tuition fee.
Can agreed tuition rates be changed?
Tutors are not allowed to change the agreed tuition rates for the first 4 weeks of lessons.
You should inform us immediately if the tutor tries to re-negotiate the tuition rate with you.
The tutor may re-negotiate the tuition rate after the first 4 weeks of lessons but you can request for a change of tutor.
How do I make payment?
The commission for our services stands at 50% of the agreed tuition fee for 4 weeks of lessons. After the first 2 weeks of lessons, we will collect our commission from you. e.g. If you have 2 lessons per week, we will collect our commission from you at the end of the 4th lesson. You can pay us via bank fund transfer (ATM or internet banking) or we can collect the payment personally from you. We will issue you a receipt after we receive the payment. Our tutors are not allowed to collect our commission on behalf of us.
At the end of the first 4 weeks of lessons, you will pay the remaining 50% of the tuition fee to the tutor directly. e.g. If you have 2 lessons per week, you will pay the remaining 50% of the tuition fee to the tutor at the end of the 8th lesson.
For subsequent months, you will pay the full tuition fee to the tutor, usually after every 4 weeks of lessons.
In the event that you only require the tutor's service for a short period of time (e.g. holiday or vocation assignment), an agency fee will be imposed on you. This fee varies.
Can I change tutor or terminate tuition at any time?
You may request for a change of tutor or terminate the tuition at any time. There is no obligation for you to complete a fixed number of lessons. You need to pay for the number of lessons given by the tutor prior to termination. There is no free trial lesson.
The tutor is subject to acceptance or rejection after the first lesson based on his or her teaching performance. We will contact you after the first lesson to confirm whether you want to accept or reject the tutor. We welcome feedbacks on the tutor from you.
If you wish to terminate the tuition service before completion of the first 4 weeks of lessons, you will pay us the full tuition fee for the number of lessons given by the tutor. In this case, you do not make any payment to the tutor as we will settle the commission with him/her directly.
Do you verify your tutors’ qualifications?
Yes, we do. Tutors are required to submit their certificates to us for our verification. We trust our tutors to state their qualifications accurately. We will speak to the tutors and confirm their qualifications. Once an assignment is confirmed, we will instruct the tutor to bring along his/her actual certificates on the first lesson for your checking. It is your responsibility to ensure that the tutor's credentials & qualifications are satisfactory.
If you find that the tutor’s qualification is inaccurate, please contact us immediately. We will decide whether it is an honest mistake or a fraud.
How do I request for a tutor?
You just need to fill up the form at here.
After you submit your request, we will contact you within 24 hours to ascertain your criteria, and follow-up with you accordingly until a suitable tutor has been matched. The date & time for the first lesson will then be arranged. You are expected to adhere to the date & time agreed. It is your responsibility to inform us early if there is a need to postpone the first lesson unless for urgent cases, e.g. student suddenly falls ill.
You can alternatively request for a tutor via phone by calling us at 9384 8643 between 9am to 10pm daily.
Can I cancel or postpone lesson?
Yes, you can, but you should inform us early if you wish to postpone or cancel a lesson. If you wish to postpone or cancel a lesson that is less than an hour away, you shall be liable to pay for a reasonable transport cost to the tutor if he/she makes the claim.
ACCOUNT RELATED MATTERS
Who can register as a tutor?
You must be at least 18 years old.
You need to possess at least an ‘A’ Level or a Diploma qualification to register.
You need to be a Singaporean, Permanent Resident or a Foreigner holding a student pass or work permit.
What is the registration fee?
Registering to be a tutor with us is FREE.
What is my user id for login to my account?
Your user id is the email address which you used to register an account with us.
What should I do if I forget my password?
Click on “Forgot password?” in the login section on our home page and a new window will appear. Enter your email that is registered with us. An email will then be sent to you. Check your email and click the link in the email. You will be directed to a page to enter your new password.
If you forgot the email address that is registered with us, send an email to poptutors@gmail.com indicating your name, NRIC number, birth date and mobile number. We will retrieve the registered email address if sufficient information is provided.
Can I edit my profile registered with you?
If you need to edit your profile such as changing your photograph, contact details, locations to teach, etc, you can login to your account to do so.
How do I close my account?
You can close your account anytime by logging in and clicking on the Close Account tab. You will be prompted to confirm once. Upon your confirmation, your account will be closed immediately. We will then no longer contact you in any way (SMS/phone/email).
Why was my account closed?
There are a few reasons why your account may have been closed:
1. You did not email us your certificates to prove your qualifications despite our reminders.
2. The phone number you registered with us is invalid.
3. You attempted to sign up for another account using a different email address.
4. You did not turn up for the first lesson and you do not have a valid reason for doing so.
5. You were uncontactable for a prolonged period.
6. We have received a complaint from our customer and verified that you were at fault after our investigation.
If you find that your account has been closed and you wish to activate it again, you may contact us and provide us your email address. We will do a review and decide whether to activate your account again.
Why was I unable to login?
There are a few reasons why your login was denied:
1. You have not activated your account through your email when you registered with us.
2. The email you entered was not the one you registered with us. If you forgot the email address that is registered with us, send an email to poptutors@gmail.com indicating your name, NRIC number, birth date and mobile number. We will retrieve the registered email address if sufficient information is provided.
3. The password you entered was incorrect. If you have forgotten your password, click on “Forgot password?” in the login section on our home page and a new window will appear. Enter your email that is registered with us. An email will then be sent to you. Check your email and click the link in the email. You will be directed to a page to enter your new password.
CERTIFICATES & PHOTOGRAPHS
Do I need to submit copies of my relevant certificates?
Yes, you are required to do so. You can either scan your certificates or take digital photos of them. You can either upload your certificates on our website during registration, login to your account to upload them after registration, or email them to us after registration. Please ensure that the copies submitted to us are clear, otherwise you will be asked to re-submit them again.
We will not consider your request to take up any assignment if you refuse to submit your certificates to us.
Do I need to submit my photo?
Yes, you are required to do so. You can either upload your photo on our website during registration or login to your account to upload it after registration.
Your photo should meet the following criteria:
1. Photo should be in ‘jpg’ format.
2. File size must not exceed 150KB.
3. The preferred dimension is 400 (width) by 514 (height) pixels.
4. Photo should be bright enough.
5. We should be able to see your face clearly
If you need to crop/resize your photo, you can do so at www.picnik.com.
SUBJECTS & LOCATIONS
Can I teach other subjects apart from the ones you have indicated on your website?
You may send us an email to request. We will evaluate whether to open a slot for that subject.
Can I choose the locations to teach?
Yes, you can. You are required to select the preferred locations on our registration form. Please select all the locations which you are comfortable with. With more locations being selected, you will have a higher chance of getting assignments.
COMMITMENT
How long do I need to commit?
Upon acceptance of an assignment, you are required to commit to the assignment for a minimum of 4 weeks of lessons. If you fail to do so, 100% of the tuition fee will be forfeited.
If you have doubts on your commitment, do not take up the assignment. Most parents expect tutors to commit for at least a year or at least until the student’s next major exam (e.g. mid year exam) has ended.
Dropping out from assignments abruptly may lower your chance of getting future assignments. If we receive too many negative feedbacks about you from our customers without valid reasons from you, we are less likely to recommend you for future assignments.
TUITION RATES
Can agreed tuition rates be changed?
You are not allowed to change the agreed tuition rate for the first 4 weeks of lessons.
You may re-negotiate the tuition rate with your student after the first 4 weeks of lessons but the student may want a change of tutor.
COMMISSION & PAYMENT
What are the commission charges?
We charge you 50% of the tuition fee for the first 4 weeks of lessons. After the first 2 weeks of lessons, we will collect our commission from your student. e.g. If you have 2 lessons per week, we will collect our commission from your student at the end of the 4th lesson. You are not allowed to collect our commission on behalf of us.
At the end of the first 4 weeks of lessons, your student will pay the remaining 50% of the tuition fee to you directly. e.g. If you have 2 lessons per week, your student will pay you the remaining 50% of the tuition fee at the end of the 8th lesson. For subsequent months, your student will pay you the full tuition fee and you will keep it.
If your student wishes to terminate the tuition service before completion of the first 4 weeks, we will charge you a commission of 50% of the tuition fee for the number of the lessons given to your student. In this case, your student will pay us directly the full fee for all the lessons given. We will keep 50% of the tuition fee collected and transfer the remaining 50% to you.
In the event that a student only requires tutor's service for a short period of time (e.g. holiday or vocation assignment), we will charge you a lower commission. This shall be discussed and confirmed before we confirm the assignment.
REGISTRATION
How do I register to be a tutor?
You just need to register at here.
After you submit the registration form, an email will be sent to you. Check your email and click the activation link in the email to complete your registration. You will then be directed to a page which confirms your registration. Your registration is then complete. If you do not receive the email, please check your junk/spam folder.
If you want the email containing the activation link to be re-sent to you, you just need to try logging into your account with your email address and password. The email will be re-sent to you.
If we need to obtain more information from you, we will contact you via SMS/phone/email.
After your successful registration, we will start to inform you of suitable assignments via SMS/phone/email.
You can also login to your account on our website to view our list of available assignments and submit your application accordingly. Only registered tutors can view our list of available assignments on our website.
PRIVACY
Will my information be posted online for public viewing?
Please be rest assured that your information will not be posted on our website or anywhere else on the internet.
